      Asthma

          Symptoms of asthma include shortness of breath, tightness and a wheezing or whistling when exhaling (breathing out). Asthma symptoms can be triggered by pollen, cold weather, dust and fibres.


          Possible Treatments

          Inhaler such as Ventolin (salbutamol) can provide relief from the symptoms of asthma. These are prescription items you would normally see your GP for but are available direct from the pharmacy.

      Cystisis (UTI) - coming soon

          This is a bacterial infection of the bladder or urethra. Common symptoms include an urge to pass water frequently and a stinging,burning sensation on passing.urine Other symptoms can include blood in urine, fever and stomach discomfort.


          Possible Treatments

          Whilst there over the counter treatments are available (Cymalon, cystemme etc) our service allows us to prescribe prescription-only antibiotics in particular nitrofurantoin.

      Eczema / Dermatitis - coming soon

          Eczema is a condition affecting the skin. It is characterised by dry, itchy skin that can appear read and scaly. More extreme cases can lead to weeping or crusting.Whilst emollients (“moisturisers”) provide some relief, steroids are more effective at treating more severe flare-ups.


          Possible Treatments

          Our pharmacy stocks hydrocortisone 1% and clobetasone 0.05% for purchase over the counter for mild to moderate symptoms Our pharmacist is able to prescribe stronger, prescription-only Betamethasone a highly effective steroid suitable for more serious cases.

      Erectile Dysfunction

          Also known as ED, erectile dysfunction describes a condition when a man unable to get or maintain an erection, making penetrative sex difficult or impossible.

      Malaria Prevention

          Malaria is a potentially fatal disease. It stems from the bite of a mosquito. Although it can be treated if diagnosed early enough it can do serious harm to your liver and so prevention is always wise.

          Champix (Varenicline) is a prescription medicine proven to be effective at helping patients stop smoking - it works by reducing cravings and the side-effects of quitting. A 12 week course is generally most effective.
